At the heart of our U.S. based company is a true leader — our Chief Dog Officer (CDO), Summer. Since she lives in the Boston area, she eagerly responds to “Summah”, and she brings paws-itive energy to everything we do.
Whether sniffing out new opportunities or ensuring the team stays motivated, our CDO brings unparalleled enthusiasm to the job every day to make sure that our office remains a place of love, and endless fun.
As CDO, Summah is also responsible for testing all potential products to guarantee they meet the highest standards of quality, safety and fun. Whether it’s a harness, leash, chew toy, life jacket, or a tasty treat, Summah is on the front lines, ensuring everything is 100% dog-approved before it reaches our customers.
In her spare time, Summah enjoys spending time with family, playing catch, long walks and swimming. Her favorite activity is jumping off the family boat into the cool ocean water. She lives to have fun and reminds us every day to “live the dash”.
Scott Guilbeault
Founder & CEO
Scott founded BoatDog with one mission: to create a harness that provides comfort, control, and security for dogs who love to pull—just like his own pup, Summer. After trying several harnesses online and in stores, none of them felt right. They either didn’t fit well, weren’t safe, or just didn’t work.
So, Scott did what any dog-loving entrepreneur would do—he set out to build his own. What started as a personal project turned into BoatDog, a company dedicated to creating high-quality, no-pull harnesses that make walks more enjoyable for both dogs and their humans.
Inspired by real dogs with real energy, the team spent nearly a year testing and designing the Captain Dog harness. Every harness is made to strike the perfect balance between durability, comfort, and control.
Today, Scott and the BoatDog team are still on that mission—helping pet parents enjoy stress-free walks with their dogs and working on more high-quality gear to come. Stay tuned, we’re just getting started.
